SharePoint Administrator: The Super User with Super Opportunities


There are often confusions about SharePoint system administrator and SharePoint Administrator. These are two different professionals with one common thing; both can generate maximum benefit if they have undergone SharePoint training and both are expected to practice the learning of SharePoint course. Apart from having SharePoint certification the functions are absolutely different though related.
A SharePoint administrator is often called super user to avoid the confusion. He has the most important function and therefore is ought to have experience of SharePoint training. The professional works deals with front-end functions and starts after the system administrator has finished his part of job. Though this is a non-technical job but having SharePoint certification is must as he is dealing with the software. The SharePoint course helps him understand the details of working.
The super user deals with information and has to acquire skills related to analyzing issues and providing solutions during SharePoint training. ·         Site collection management: A system administrator decides what type of information can be shared, however a super user with SharePoint certification decides how information is managed and shared; which information should fall in which category and how it should be displayed. ·          Security of individual sites: The SharePoint course states that even if software is secured, all the individual sites linked to software should also be secured. This ensures that there is no loophole in protection.

·         Business concerns: The professional needs to be good at analyzing situations since he needs to provide solutions to issues that pop up now and then. He needs to be definite that the solution will help in producing better results.
·         Policies: Every site has certain policies to be followed. There are some sites which need to have limited access while others which are accessed almost daily. The SharePoint course states that users should be informed about the rules they are expected to follow when dealing with one site. It is the super user who decides the policies applicable to each site and manages them as per requirement.
The super user with SharePoint certification has to monitor existing sites and develop new ones. Therefore, he should have attended SharePoint training.
